75th Anniversary of D-Day
As we look back on the D-Day invasions of 75 years ago, we recall the heroic actions of the soldiers who stormed the beaches in Normandy France. We also remember the herculean efforts of the doctors and nurses who treated the wounded and dying. The 52nd General Hospital Unit, organized at Syracuse University after World War I and staffed almost entirely by physicians and surgeons from the Syracuse University College of Medicine, received casualties from the front lines following the Battle of the Bulge and D-Day.
