Point of Care Resources: Evidence Based Point of Care
ACP's PIERA resource from the American College of Physicians that provides evidence-based point-of-care resources for a variety of medical conditions, procedures, and screenings. Daily news updates and medical ethics resources are also available. Drug information is provided via the latest edition of AHFS DI Essentials.
Essential Evidence Plus (formerly InfoPOEMS)
Clinical awareness system that highlights important new evidence via DailyPOEMs ("Patient-Oriented Evidence that Matters"). This resource also includes evidence based practice guidelines, ICD-9 coding information, dermatologic differential diagnosis, and Continuing Medical Education. A PDA version is available.
EvidenceMatters (included with the Joanna Brigg Institute)
A pull down menu-based therapeutic outcome tool with additional links to PubMed citations. A comparison of two or more therapies is also available. Due to the menu-based system, only a limited number of disorders are searchable.
National Guidelines Clearinghouse
A comprehensive freely available database of clinical practice guidelines and related documents. The criteria used to develop each guideline is identified in the "Evidence Supporting the Recommendations" section.
Nursing Reference Center
A collection of point of care nursing resources that includes disease-based point of care sheets (including evidence-based care sheets), drug information from the Davis Drug Guide, patient education sheets from the Health Library, legal case information, and research instrument information. Free continuing education is also provided with individual registration.
