Policies on checking out books and other materials from the library.
Borrowing Library Materials
Borrower registration cards may be obtained at the CirculationDesk of the library. You must present your Upstate Identification card for barcodingat the the time of your registration. Certain Non-Upstate personnel may obtainborrowing privileges for books only. They must check with circulation personnelregarding their status and applications. Once a card is issued it is requiredfor all borrowing from the library.
Loan Policy
The current loan policy is as follows: Books may be checked outfor 3 weeks with one renewal. Books may be renewed by telephone. If an itemis in circulation we will place a hold on the item and contact you when theitem is returned. Journals circulate to Upstate personnel only for two hoursto photocopy. If the item is needed for photography a special request shouldbe made to the circulation supervisor.
Recalls
All borrowed materials are subject to recall. These materialsmust be returned promptly when recalled for a course reserve or another reader.Borrowing privileges may be denied if materials are not returned when recalled.
Reserve Collection
Reserve books must be used within the library. There is a twohour restriction on the use of these materials. Reserve materials may be takenout one hour before closing and must be returned the following day one hourafter opening. Articles or tests that are placed on reserve are located in thewells on the circulation desk. The honor system is employed when using thesematerials. You take them, copy them and return them when you are finished. Manyof the articles placed on reserve are also available electronically from theE-Reserves web page on the Library's web site.
Media Circulation and Borrowing Policies
Circulation for one week is possible with a valid SUNY Upstate ID Card.Special reserves for ?Library Use Only?programs are available. Faculty, students and staff may reserve media for special show dates one week in advance of theshow date.
