Frequently Asked Questions
What are Electronic Reserves?
Electronic reserves are digital versions of printed copyrighted materials. E-reserves supplement the print reserve system and make materials available on the Web, 24/7, on campus or through off-campus access.
Who can access E-reserves at Upstate?
Electronic Reserves are provided for students and faculty of Upstate Medical University only.
What types of material are placed on E-reserve?
E-reserves can include journal articles, book chapters or course related materials, such as PowerPoint presentations.
How can faculty submit materials for E-reserve?
Instructors may submit material in paper or electronic format, using the following procedure:
- Submit electronic materials (including the course reading list; this will be used to link to the articles) to Nancy Burtis (burtisn@upstate.edu). Print materials will need to be scanned; please provide them to the library with as much notice as possible (at least three weeks prior to the start of classes is preferred) as the scanning can be very time consuming.
- E-reserves will be unlinked from the Library home page at the end of the semester; please let us know if they need to remain active on the web beyond that time.
