Directions:
Coming From the West:
- Thruway Exit 39 (Syracuse)
- Take 690 East to 81 South to Adams/Harrison exit (#18)
- Keep in the left hand lane off exit ramp.You will go under Rt. 81
- Left at second light (E. Adams Street) - University Hospital is to your right. Continue past University Hospital, uphill to traffic light at Irving Ave.
- Turn Right onto Irving and find parking at first opportunity.
- The library is on the right, past Crouse Hospital in Weiskotten Hall, at the intersection and traffic light at Waverly Ave.
Coming From the East:
- Thruway Exit 34A (Rte. 481)
- Take 481 South to 690 West to the Downtown/Townsend St. exit (#13)
- Take left off the ramp onto Townsend
- Left at sixth light (Adams Street)
- Pass under Rt. 81 overpass while crossing Almond Street
- Continue past University Hospital, uphill to traffic light at Irving Ave.
- Turn Right onto Irving and find parking at first opportunity.
- The library is on the right, past Crouse Hospital in Weiskotten Hall, at the intersection and traffic light at Waverly Ave.
Coming From the North:
- Route 81 South to Adams/Harrison exit (#18)
- Bear left. You will go under Rt. 81. Left at second light (Adams Street)
- Continue past University Hospital, uphill to traffic light at Irving Ave.
- Turn Right onto Irving and find parking at first opportunity.
- The library is on the right, past Crouse Hospital in Weiskotten Hall, at the intersection and traffic light at Waverly Ave
Coming From the South:
- Route 81 North to Adams/Harrison exit (#18)
- Take right on Adams Street
- Continue past University Hospital, uphill to traffic light at Irving Ave.
- Turn Right onto Irving and find parking at first opportunity.
- The library is on the right, past Crouse Hospital in Weiskotten Hall, at the intersection and traffic light at Waverly Ave
CENTRO Bus Route:
Number 4 bus - SU / Nob Hill; Syracuse University buses; get off at Crouse Hospital (next door) , VA hospital, or at corner of Waverly Ave. All are adjacent to our building.
Access to the Health Sciences Library at 766 Irving Avenue:
- Via Irving Avenue / Weiskotten courtyard – The courtyard is entered at two points though the stone wall along Irving Avenue, directly at the intersection with the Waverly Avenue traffic light. From the courtyard, use the "South" entrance, on the lefthand side. Follow signs to the library.
- Via Veteran's Hospital access road – Follow sidewalk directly across from VH entrance to stairs and entrance to Weiskotten Hall. Follow corridor to right and signs to Library.
- Via Upstate Hospital – from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm weekdays only; ask for directions at the Hospital Lobby Information Desk. A visitor's pass for the hospital will be issued at the desk.
- After hours and weekends – Via Weiskotten courtyard, South entrance on left. Via the Veterans'Hospital access road entrance. All other entrances will be locked.
- Handicap access – use the loading dock opposite the VA hospital entrance, ("L" lot); ring bell for access.
Parking:
Generally there is no free parking available; visitors may find pay parkingat:
- Metered parking along Irving Avenue (free evenings, Sundays, & holidays)
- Parking garages on Irving Avenue – opposite Crouse Hospital
- SUNY Upstate Medical University Parking Garage East – off E. Adams Street (long walk)
- Open pay parking lots – throughout the area, e.g., lower Irving Avenue (near Genesee St. ), E. Adams Street, etc.
Parking in Upstate Medical University lots is free on a first come basisafter 3:30 pm weekdays, also all day on weekends and holidays, except duringspecial events as posted. Syracuse University home football and basketballgames are considered special events.
