Computer areas in the Library
John Bernard Henry, M.D. Computer Learning Center
Located on the second floor of the library, this center is only available to Upstate students, staff, and faculty. The center includes:
- 2 computer classroms (each includes instructor computer, projector, & screen)
220 - 15 computers
222c - 24 computers
To reserve the classrooms contact the Educational Communications (EdComm) Department at 4-4860. Please check thde classroom calendar ahead of time for availability. - Open Computing Area
20 PC's & 8 Macs
Color & regular printing
5 scanners & 1 slide scanner
Computers with scanners have the software Adobe In-Design, Photoshop, & Acrobat Pro
All computers in this area have the software 2xAV - 1st Floor Library Computers
18 PC's are located in the open areas directly in front of the library entrance.
Available to anyone using the library.
Laptops
- 5 laptops are available to check out at the Library Service Desk
- Laptops can only be checked out to Upstate students, faculty, & staff.
- Anyone borrowing a laptop must leave a valid Driver's License (or other NYS ID or passport) until the laptop is returned.
- The person borrowing the laptop is responsible for any damage.
Wireless Access
Available everywhere in the library to Upstate students, staff, and faculty. To access the wireless you must set up an account, by filling out the IMT request form.
Printing
All library users have access to printing, and will be charged per page.
- Upstate students, faculty, & staff should ask for a copy card at the Library Service Desk.
Use the vending machine located near the Library Service Desk to add money onto the card. - Non-Upstate library users should purchase a copy card from the vending machine located near the Library Service Desk.
- To Print:
Send your job to the printer
A box will pop up asking you to name your print job Go to the printer and insert your print card into the reader
Select the name you gave your print job from the list Eject your card from the reader when you've finished printing
Photocopying
- Upstate students, faculty, & staff should ask for a copy card at the Library Service Desk.
Use the vending machine located near the Library Service Desk to add money onto the card. - Non-Upstate library users should buy a copy card from the vending machine located near the Library Service Desk.
The money used to purchase your card will show up as credit on the card. - 2 photocopiers, 1 regular and one color, are located on the 1st floor of the library
- 2 photocopiers are located in the basement of the library
Multimedia Equipment
TV's, VCR's, & DVD players are located throughout the library.
- 11 study carrels located on the 1st floor, in the Current Periodicals room, have TV's & VCR's or DVD players.
- Group study rooms 225, 226, 227, 228, 229, 229a, located on the 2nd floor, also have TV's & VCR's or DVD players.
- Group study rooms must be requested at the Library Service Desk.
Headsets
- Upstate students, faculty, & staff can check out headsets to use with video equipment, at the Library Service Desk.
Headsets are checked out for up to 4 hours. - Headsets to use with library computers are available in the 2nd floor Computer Learning Center
- Non-Upstate users cannot check out headsets, ask at the Library Service Desk for assistance.
